The RTR 2025 conference took place betwwen 11th-13th of February 2025, in Brussels, Belgium.

The RTR 2025 (Results from Road Transport Research) Conference attracted its largest audience to date, with more than 500 participants on-site and 400 participants joining online, emphasising the importance of pre-competitive collaborative research in road transport at the European level. This high level of participation is a testimony of the RTR conference’s pivotal role in supporting the European R&I eco-system in all the fields of road transport: infrastructure, road safety, decarbonisation, digitalisation, urban mobility, as well freight and logistics.

The main takeaway was the importance of “coordination” to help accelerate the deployment of results from funded research.

The inclusion in the RTR2025 of projects from other EU programmes, such as the CEF programme, highlighted the importance of building bridges that facilitate knowledge and best practice exchanges.

Nevertheless, coordination must happen not only at the European level: it is equally essential at the national and regional levels. Engaging more deeply with Member States will help to foster stronger alliances.

DELPHI has a two fold participation in the conference:

  • On Wednesday, February 12th, DELPHI contributed to discussions on multimodal traffic management, focusing on use cases and technology readiness levels, as part of the Multimodal Traffic Management Cluster (MTMC) Workshop. Ms. Sofia Kokonezi, from ICCS, delivered two presentations during the workshop. Workshop agenda is available here.
  • On Thursday, February 13th, DELPHI participated in the  Session 21: Multimodal Traffic Management for Door-to-Door Passenger and Freight Transport, that took place betwwen 13:30 – 15:00 CET, in the Conference Auditorium, moderated by  Mr. Thiago Tavares from CINEA – European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (and project officer of DELPHI) & Ms. Paraskevi (Vivi) Michalaki from National Highways. DELPHI joined ACUMEN Project and SYNCHROMODE Project to discuss innovative approaches to multimodal traffic management. Ms. Sofia Kokonezi, from ICCS, delivered a presentation of DELPHI, which can be found here.
